3 km from the city center lie the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Chersonese (entrance 20 hryvnia, photo 5 hryvnas) where Prince Vladimir of Kiev converted to Christianity. Now here is the historical-archeological museum-reserve "Chersonese Taurian". It includes not only a permanent exposition, but also excavation sites, the ancient Chora, where tourists can even take part in expeditions, and much more.

The guests of the city are surprised when to a request to tell how to get to St. Vladimir's Cathedral, they will learn that there are two cathedrals in Sevastopol the name of this saint. The Vladimir Cathedral on the Central City Hill is called the Admiralty or the tomb of four admirals. Here the heroes of the first defense of Sevastopol are buried. The only thing is that the entrance to the territory is paid, plus you are required to pay money for photographing the neighborhoods, but we were somehow cautiously photographed and did not pay. The message ... Read the full review

In Chersonese I visited more than once, but twice. The first acquaintance with the ancient city happened to me in the winter, during a business trip to the Crimea and a forced pause in work because of the suddenly overtaken Sunday.
And here we are at the entrance to the city-museum. Entrance tickets ... Read the full review

Vacation in the Crimea is not only a hot sun and the beach, it is an even greater opportunity plunge into the history of this beautiful place. Therefore, after consulting with my family, we went to Chersonese, to the ancient city, the present vicinity of Sevastopol. This city museum-reserve today is quite popular. He is more than two and a half thousand years, as he is part of the history of ancient Greece, Rome and Byzantium. It is associated with a rather famous event as the baptism of Rus. Having visited the ruins of the ancient theater, ... Read the whole review
