Lisbon City Museum
Lisboa, Campo Grande, 245The city museum of Lisbon is noteworthy because its collection is clearly divided into parts reflecting the brightest regional characteristics. This is not always done, and the tourist is very comfortable: he sees not abstract-general "Roman antiquities", but, for example, precisely connected with the veneration of St. Anthony.
The Maritime Museum of Lisbon

Museum of the East in Lisbon
Lisboa, Avenida de BrasÃlia, Doca de AlcantaraMost tourists are surprised to learn that in the capital of Portugal, Lisbon has a museum of the East. The Museum of Galust Gulbenkian in Lisbon
Lisboa, Av. de Berna, 45aThe Museum of Galust Gulbenkian in Lisbon is one of those gifts that await the most curious traveler. Private collections usually do not attract as much attention as there are large national museums, and in vain, especially in this case.
Museum of the Berardo Collection in Lisbon
Lisboa, Praca do Imperio, Centro Cultural de BeltmLike in any other European capital, Lisbon has a museum of modern art and not one. But, undoubtedly, the museum of the collection of Berardo from them is the most interesting, the most modern, the largest and the most authoritative.
Museum of puppets

Lisboa, Patio do Aljube, 5The Museum of the Roman Theater in Lisbon is one of those museums where, besides the exhibits in the window, there is also a "live", let's say a part - it is built over the ruins of the ancient city theater of Lisbon. Such museums have an amazing ability - they make the story alive.
Electricity Museum in Lisbon
Lisboa, Av. BrasÃlia, 1300-598The Museum of Electricity in Lisbon is interesting because its collection is not a dry museum exposition. The museum is interactive, and it is located in the building of the old thermal station. Some parts of the thermo station are still in operation, but they are used not for practical purposes, but as part of the museum exposition.
National Museum of the Azulegu of Lisbon
Lisboa, Rua Madre Deus, 4In the national museum azulezhu should go already, if only because it is one of those museums that have no analogues. For a very simple reason - nowhere else, except in Spain and Portugal, azulezhu is not produced in Europe, and even here they are rare.
National Museum of Natural History and Science in Lisbon
Lisboa, Rua da Escola Politecnica, 58-60The National Museum of Natural History and Science in Lisbon is one of those museums that one day needs to be dedicated to visiting: it's very much there. And it's nice to spend the whole day in an interesting place, well-equipped for that.
National carriage museum in Lisbon
Lisboa, Museu Nacional dos Coches Praca Afonso de AlbuquerquThe National Carriage Museum in the Portuguese capital is considered the best in the world. Its main collection includes so many rare and interesting carriages that this seemingly not very serious museum actually has been one of the most visited in Lisbon for many years.
National Museum of Costume and Fashion in Lisbon
Lisboa, Largo Julio CastilhoThe National Museum of Costume and Fashion in Lisbon is considered one of the best in Europe. He has a huge collection: there are more than 38 thousand exhibits. This was facilitated by a rich history - ordinary and royal, and relatively minor damage during the last war.
This also applies to the museums of Lisbon. There are many unexpected, many colorful-original and many classic at the same time. There are also modernist museums with collections of modern art styles, there is a remarkable museum of ancient art with a huge classical collection, and there are unique museums reflecting regional specifics - the most interesting of them is probably the Azulezhu museum. Well, as usual in European capitals, there are many educational museums.
In the city there are 2 museums, reflecting its past in the most direct way: it is the city museum of Lisbon and the museum of the Roman theater. The city museum is dedicated to historical finds made in the city itself. The Museum of the Roman Theater is an open archaeological site over the remains of a Roman theater built in Lisbon about 2 thousand years ago.
The largest city museum is a museum of ancient art. A wonderful classic collection. Raphael's paintings, works of Hieronymus Bosch and thousands of other paintings, sculptures and decorative objects can all be found here.
In contrast, there is a modern art museum, large, with an interesting collection, in which you can find the works of Salvador Dali, Kazimir Malevich and Picasso, but besides them - a huge number of works of artists of the 20th century, almost unknown in Russia.
There are two educational museums - the Museum of Electricity and the Museum of Natural History. The Electricity Museum is located in a thermo station building, some parts are still working, and they can be viewed. The Natural History Museum (besides the proposed collection, which is collected almost 3 centuries) is also located in a remarkable botanical garden.
Perhaps, as a reflection of other contradictions in history, the most famous museums of Lisbon are not huge national complexes, but 3 not too large compared to them: the museum of Galust Gulbenkian, the carriage museum and the Azulezhu museum.
The museum of Galust Gulbenkian is opened by the private collector Galust Gulbenkian, and it is completely incomprehensible what to admire in the first place: Rembrandt and Rubens, Turner and Gainsborough, paintings by Claude Monet, Renoir and Degas are represented. And besides them - which only does not exist, from ancient Egyptian statues to decorations of the Art Deco era. A huge, interesting, complex collection, which not every national museum can boast of.
The carriage museum has the best collection in the world. This is a slightly frivolous museum with a variety of carriages, from magnificent gilt items from the era of French kings to gigs of the early 20th century. A separate joy is a wonderful old building, a riding arena.
The Maritime Museum is another museum with local specifics. The history of Portugal is inextricably linked with the sea. If you remember the history of the geographical Great Discoveries, you will not be surprised, and there really is something to see.
Another interesting museum is a museum of puppets. As you know, the puppet theater spread across Europe from the Mediterranean, so the appearance here of such a museum is more than logical.
In general, there are a lot of museums, ranging from beautiful classical to desperately avant-garde, there are also quite unique ones. Everyone will find a museum here to their liking.
