From Klaipeda, the main Lithuanian port connected by regular ferry communication with the largest cities of the Baltic coast, the passenger-freight steam ro-pax "Kaunas" follows to Polish Gdansk. The ferry runs once a week, the journey time is 8 hours

The leading ferry service operator is the Lithuanian shipping company Lisco Baltic Service (LBS). In February 2005, Lisco opened a new ferry line to Poland (Gdansk).
