The height of the summer season. The sun's rays hotly lick the shoulders of tourists, patiently shifting in a long queue, stretching along the whole street Jan Luijkenstraat. Its very beginning rests on the cash registers of an ancient building, towering a gray mighty block among the luscious green of spreading tics. The big cool shadow cast by him, the only salvation for the motley crowd wishing to get into the corridors of the Rijksmuseum, the most popular museum in Amsterdam. Every morning, residents of the historic city center can observe a similar picture.
During the work of the museum: every day, except January 1, from 9.00 to 18.00 - through the spacious halls of the palace are many thousands of visitors and interest in the unique content of these stone walls never fades. The museum, built in 1885 in the Neo-Gothic style by the architect P. Kuipers, is too extensive to cover all of its treasures in one day, so many people come back here again.
The main purpose of the visit is, of course, to visit the paintings of the famous artists of the Golden Age of Holland, such as Frans Hals, Jan Steen, Vermeer and Rembrandt .The best exhibits are exhibited in three small rooms .The culmination of the excursion will be a visit to the "Gallery of Glory" on the second floor, where in the silent surroundings of hundreds of eyes of enchanted tourists the fascinating painting by Rembrandt "Night Watch" hangs over the impermanence of the world .By the way, the real name of the picture sounds less romantic: "The appearance of the infantry company of Captain Frans Banning Koka" .
Experts recommend that you also look into the hall with stunning doll houses, the oldest of which was made already in 1676. Here in the miniature town of these fragile, lacy structures it's hard not to feel like an awkward Gulliver. After that, you just need to look at the samples of Delft porcelain for dessert, where the master's idea is embodied in intricate vases, painted saucers, as if woven from the milk mist cups.
Nearby, by the way is the Van Gogh Museum and Steadeylik.
