This island state is located in the Caribbean Sea, not far (630 km) from Central America, the region between North America and South. The nearest neighbors of the country are Cuba (in the north of the country) and Haiti (in the east). From the last island, Jamaica separates the strait of the same name. All countries of the Caribbean are also often called the West Indies. Do not confuse it with Western India: it's the name of the states of India that are in the west of this Asian country
