By train
The nearest railway stations to Val di Fassa are Ora, Trento and Bolzano. Near the stations, as a rule, there are bus stops to the ski villages of the valley.
By car
Before you go to the valley on your own car in the winter, it's worth making sure that the weather in recent days has been good and expensive in a normal state. Otherwise, dizzy species from the ice route can lead to the appearance of gray hair in the hair ahead of time.
Most often use the motorway Brennero (A22), from which the valley has two exits:
- Enya / Ora - SS48 on the route Dolomites - Passo San Lugano - Val di Fiemme - Val di Fassa, distance about 45 km
- Bolzano Nord - SS241 on the Via Dolomiti - Passo-Carezza - Val di Fassa / Val di Fiemme, distance is about 37 km
Alternatively, you can take SS 346 from Passo San Pellegrino to Moena, SS 641 from Passo Fedaia to Canazei, SS 48 from Passo-Pordoi to Canazei, SS 242 from Passo Sella to the same Canazei.
Climate
Skating areas
In the region, there are three main skiing areas. The first covers the area above the resorts of Campitello and Canazei (including Alba di Canazei and Penia), forming part of the "round-the-world" of Sella-Ronda. This is the most prestigious and lively part of the resort.
The second part offers skiing in the Tre Valli area, combining the Alpa di Lusia, Passo San Pellegrino and Falcade ski areas, as well as the resort towns of Moena and Passo-San Pellegrino.
The third includes the resort towns of Pozza di Fassa, Vigo di Fassa and Pera di Fassa.
Trails of Val di Fassa
The holiday villages of Poza di Fassa and Vigo di Fassa are located in the center of the Fassa Valley, with easy access to other ski areas. Just above them is the Catinaccio - Rosengarten ski area. Particularly worth noting is the quality route directly over Pozza: on it you can ride at night. The region is connected by lifts to Campitello di Fassa.
Complex routes for professionals are few, but there are conditions for off-piste skiing: the slopes are very wide, and you can go to the virgin land from virtually anywhere. The best slopes for virgin skiing lie on both sides of the summit Belvedere (Belvedere, 2425 m). There are also good places on the slopes of Col Rodella (2485 m), but there are fewer and many of them are avalanche-hazardous.
For middle-level skiers at the resort, there are a lot of interesting trails: the stadium between Col-Rodella and Passo-Sella (2214 m) with a lot of long wide slopes, served by lifts. Other interesting trails are located below Belvedere.
For beginners, as well as "middle peasants", almost all the main roads of Val di Fassa, located in the intermontane saddle between Passo-Sella Pass, the peaks of Col-Rodella and Belvedere, will suit. On the level of complexity they can be called "blue-red", although on the map they are almost all "red". All the routes are perfectly serviced, they always have good snow.
Hotels in Val di Fassa
The Fassa Valley consists of a dozen small and fairly large resorts, so there should not be any problems with accommodation. So, for example, certified hotels from 1 to 4 "stars" here there are more than 200, and this not to mention all kinds of apartments, garnitures, boarding houses, b & b.
The most popular villages for staying traditionally remain Canazei and Campitello, thanks to the convenient location of hotels and the lower stations of the ski lifts. Also the fastest are the hotels in Alba di Canazei, Pozza di Fassa and Vigo di Fassa (where there is also a lower lift station), and in Moena, and then all the others. Accordingly, the cost of accommodation in them is higher than the average for the valley.
There are no 5-star hotels in Val di Fassa, but there is no shortage of comfortable and luxurious "quartets". Almost all of them offer a spa with a sauna, a private pool, and half-board meals - breakfast and dinner. "Treeshki" in the valley is the most popular accommodation offering the best price / quality ratio. They also most often offer half-board meals, many can boast their own sauna.
Ski schools
In the Val di Fassa Valley, six ski schools are open: in Canazei, Campitello, Pozza di Fassa, Vigo di Fassa and two schools in Moena. In Alba di Canazei operates a branch of the school from Canazei, and in Pera - a branch from Pozza. In addition, in Canazei there is a school for teaching cross-country skiing and a snowboard school. Qualified, often Russian-speaking instructors, as well as an abundance of sites and slopes for beginners - their main advantage.
Entertainment, excursions and attractions
Outdoor ice rink, cross-country ski tracks, dog sledding and snowmobiling. In Kanazei there is a modern sports complex with a swimming pool, sauna and massage room. Numerous shops, bars, restaurants and discos.
As a tourist attraction is the fabulous nature of the Fassa Valley, as well as the cozy center of the villages: with parish churches, narrow streets, tiled roofs in the snow .However, to relax and spend a half day / day outside the slopes here also can be, for example, in Trento or Bolzano .In addition, you can see the gallery of Andrea Soraperra in Canazei, where the works of this sculptor and a large toy master are presented .You can not only enjoy the process of creating traditional wooden and other dolls, but also to get your favorite copies in the store at the gallery .Address: Canazei, Via Dolomites 109 .
At 3 km from Canazei is an old mill S Laia of the 16th century. You can get there by the S641 route, the address: Via Pian Trevisan Penia, phone: 0462 60 23 23, opening hours: 9: 00-12: 00 and 15: 00-18: 00 Mon-Fri Mid-March - Mid December.
