Alta Trails -Badia
With more than 1200 slopes Alta-Badia and the entire ski area of the Dolomites are a real winter paradise, which was formed 200 million years ago at the site of the once-existing primitive sea. In particular, once the highest and most famous peaks of the Dolomites - the Sella massif, the Marmolada glacier and the Mount Sivetta - were atolls.
Today the resort includes the territories of small villages that are the skiing areas: Badia at an altitude of 1324 m, La Villa / Stern 1433 m, La Val 1433 m, San Cassiano 1537 m, Corvara 1568 m and Colfosco 1654 m. All resorts are connected by a modern lift system.
In Alta Badia, as in the entire Dolomitic Alpine skiing region, red tracks are concentrated, there are few black trails here. Beginners can also try their hand at the blue tracks. And the most famous black tracks in Alta Badia: the route starting at the station Piz la Lla, and the shortest route Col Prodat - Edelweiss. The longest route starts from Wallon and ends at Corvara, its length is 4, 3 km, and the drop is 980 m.
Alta-Badia is an important point in the World Cup schedule, usually among men, in mid-December. The city together with Val di Fasso, Val Gardena and Arrabio-Marmolada constitute the route of the world famous round-the-world tour around the Sella-Cella-Ronda massif.
Snowboard
Snowboard fans are waiting for the Ciampai snow park, located on Piz La Ila - Piz Sorega, where various structures for jumping, boardercross routes are equipped. And there are interesting tracks for snowboarders on Lagazuoi, Santa Croce, Parchi Naturali and Stella Alpina.
San Cassiano
San Cassiano is a hamlet and a skiing area that is part of Alta Badia and is located at an altitude of 1537 m above sea level. The rocks of La Varella, Settsass and Conturunes, surrounding San Cassiano from all sides, create a special microclimate that is not affected by cold, damp winds. Low humidity provides amazing skiers with tremendous friable snow.
The total length of local routes is 130 km, most of them blue and red. The height difference is 1410 m. There are 54 ski lifts in the resort, which makes it easy to get to the surrounding Alta-Badia ski areas, for example, to La Ville or Pedrases.
Hotels
The hotels here are not that much, but you can find the best option for your taste and wallet. The only advice that in principle applies to all local resorts is to book a bed in a season in advance, or it will have to be chosen from "leftovers."
Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Alta Badia
Lovers of history can make an exciting excursion to the historical sites of the First World War. The route will take the whole day, it passes around the mountain Col di Lana (2452 m), so in some places you will need a ski bass. First you go from Badia to Port-Veskovo and get on the track in the direction of "Queen Dolomite" - Glacier Marmolada. Then the route runs along the Civetta Skiarena, Giau-Pass and Cinque Torri. And after hitting Lagazuoi, you can return to Badia on the comfortable and pleasant slopes of Armentarola. The Lagazuoi mountain is known for being the front line during the First World War.
In addition, it is worth to look at the church of Santa Croce of the 15th century, the parish church of San Leonardo in the neighboring village of Pedraces of the 18th century, the Church of Saint Catherine in Corvara of the 14th century. Be sure to visit the Ladin Museum (Ladin Ciastel de Tor Museum) in the castle of Ciastel de Tor with the same name, where you will be told about the Ladin culture. Other local must-see: the house of St. Giuseppe Freinademets (the first Ladin saint), the Renee art gallery, the exhibition of artist Raymond Massner in Corvara. Photo by Alta Badia (18)
