How to get
Anzio has a connection with Rome via Via Nettunense (SS207) and Via Ardeatina (SS601), as well as via Via Pontina.

Anzio's history
Antium is much older than Rome. Before the conquest in 338 BC. e. it was a fortified city of the Wolski tribe
At the time of the Empire, Ancium competed with Pompeii for the number of luxurious villas and wealthy Romans. At the seashore stood the imperial palace, in which Caligula and Nero were born. After the capture by the Saracens the city was abandoned, and the settlement itself moved to the east - to the area of modern Nettuno. Pope Innocent XII in 1698 began construction of a new port east of the archaeological zone. During the Second World War, the Allies landed in the Anzio area to liberate Rome. Then the city was badly destroyed and after the war was rebuilt.

The Anzio Military Museum (Museo dello Sbarco di Anzio) is dedicated to the landing of the Allies on the territory of the port of Anzio and is located in the village of the 17th century - Villa Adele, which is down the hill from the railway station.
