A bit of history
The first settlement in the Vicenza region dates from ancient times, but the foundation of the city itself occurred between the 7th and 11th centuries. Vicenza managed to visit both part of the Roman Empire, and under the tutelage of the Venetians. From these and other cities, many exquisite temples and chapels, mansions and villas, the Berg Theater and even a waterpipe were left.
During the Middle Ages, Vicenza was ruled by an influential family of Scaligers, who held power in their hands for 125 years, from 1262 to 1387. Approximately from the beginning of the 15th century the city once again stood under the flags of Venice and swore to the republican government.
How to get here
FTV buses depart from Vicenza to Thiene, Asiago, Bassano and the nearest Colli Berici. The city is located near the motorway A4, which connects Milan and Venice. Via SR11 you can reach Verona and Padua.

First of all, getting to Vicenza, tourists seek to the basilica of Palladian (1549) in Piazza dei Signori. From there they are already flowing in colorful flocks around the city. "The house of the dwarves" (Villa Valmarana, also the work of guessing whom) is located on the slopes of Monte Beriko and is an apartment house. This name was given to the house thanks to a multitude of stone sculptures of dwarfs scattered in the park and arranged on the walls. The main building and the guest house of the Villa were painted by Tiepolo and his son Giandomenico in 1757.
Other attractions of Vicenza: Palazzo-Leoni-Montanari (now a museum with masterpieces of Venetian paintings and a collection of Russian icons), the palace of Palladio La Loggia del Capitanio (opposite the Palladian basilica), the Basilica of Felice and Fortunato.

The collections of the Vicenza museums are one of the most impressive in Italy.
