At the heart of City Park, in Budapest, is located, perhaps the most popular Hungarian bathing and Europe's largest spa complex - swimming pool section. Convenient location, a beautiful architectural ensemble, the unique healing properties of thermal water, a variety of services - all provide a pool of an endless stream of visitors at any time of the year
In the late 19th century as a mining engineer Vilmos Zsigmond was discovered the source of warm mineral water.. At this point a medical bath was organized. Then followed a series of studies, drilling wells, construction and already in the very beginning of the 20th century magnificent buildings, thermal and swimming pools began to take on an increasing stream of people wishing to improve. During the Second World War, almost a fifth of the buildings were destroyed, but after its completion, the rapidly restored complex again began to receive visitors.
In the mid-20th century, the swimming pool was converted and became suitable for visits in the winter. The new reconstruction began in the late 90's and lasted almost 10 years. During this time, replaced sewage treatment plant, ventilation system, restored the walls and ceilings, decorating beautiful drawings, stucco, mosaic paintings, statues on water themes. Work on improvement continues to this day, but they are not noticeable to holidaymakers.
Nowadays the Szechenyi swimming pool consists of 11 baths and 5 swimming pools . The water from the source of St. Istvan with a temperature of +77 ° C (the hottest spring in Europe) rises from a depth of more than 1200 meters . Hydrocarbonate-sulfate-calcium- magnesium (about how!) water containing sodium ions microcomponents fluorine and boron is indicated for treatment of joints (arthritis of various etiologies) . Beverage procedures recommended at digestive diseases (gastritis, peptic ulcer, cholelithiasis, enteritis), kidney diseases and respiratory system ( inhalation) .
shortcomings in terms of service can be considered almost complete absence of inscriptions in English. But this inconvenience becomes almost invisible thanks to the sympathetic female consultants who readily explain what's what. The swimming pool is huge, there are a lot of rooms, so it is better to consult at the entrance, so as not to wander for nothing in search of the desired.
