How to get to Piraeus
Buses No. 40 and No. 49 run between central Athens and Piraeus (the fare is 0.5 euros) 24 hours a day. Bus number X96 performs regular routes between Piraeus and Athens airport (cost 3.2 EUR, travel time 90 minutes). The airport can also be reached by metro (6 euros). The prices are indicated in April 2011
Cruise liners from all the islands of the Aegean Sea (excluding Sporades and some of the smaller islands Cyclades and Dodecanese where transplantation is required) and the Eastern Mediterranean are all year round at the port of Piraeus.

Climate
The climate is Mediterranean with lots of sunny days throughout the year. Rains are most likely between November and April due to Piraeus's close proximity to Mount Parnita.

Shops and restaurants
Cafes and shops are located along the harbor, near the cruise terminal, as well as near the metro. The central avenues of Piraeus - Iroon Polytechneiou and Grigoriou Labraki are considered major shopping areas.

Entertainment, excursions and attractions Piraeus
Among the archaeological sites of Piraeus, the ancient gate of the port and part of the fortifications built during the Peloponnesian War are remarkable, preserved in good condition to our time. The ruins of the ancient city, located in the basement of the cathedral Agia Triada and the ancient theater Zea next to the archaeological museum. In the archaeological museum, an extensive collection of antique artifacts was found during excavations in Piraeus, mainly in the embankment area.
Kastella is considered one of the most attractive areas of the city with neoclassical-style mansions. From the hills of Castella you can enjoy a panoramic view of Athens and the Saronic Gulf. One of the popular events in Piraeus is the Ecocinema Film Festival, which takes place every February. In summer Piraeus meets the sea festival and the festival "Rock Wave".
