Rostock (Rostock) is a major port city and transport hub of Germany, located in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, on the coast of the Baltic Sea at the confluence of the River Varna. Once a famous city of the Hanseatic League, as well as the center of the shipbuilding and ship repair industry, Rostock suffered badly during the Second World War. After that the city became the largest port of the newly formed GDR, intensively rebuilt and today it continues to be the economic center of the federal land.
The central part of the city is divided into three parts:

In Rostock there is a local airport Rostock-Laage, which accepts flights from Stockholm, Cologne and Bonn, Munich, as well as charters from Antalya, Burgas, Palma de -Mayorki, Rhodes, Tenerife, Varna. The nearest international airports are located in Hamburg and Berlin
There is a regular direct rail link to Rostock with Hamburg (on the way 2 hours), Schwerin, Stralsund, Berlin (on the way 3, 5 hours) and other cities. InterCity (IC) or Region Express (RE) trains run every 1-2 hours

And since Rostock is a major center of shipbuilding, passenger and freight port, here often stop cruise liners and regular parma flights. Rostock's port is on the right bank of the Varnov River Delta and receives Scandlines from Gedser (Denmark) every two hours, the same Scandlines from Trelleborg (Sweden) several times a day and Superfast Ferries ferries from Helsinki (Finland). Cuisine and restaurants in Rostock
Rostocker brews its own light beer in Rostock, as everywhere else in Germany. In the tourist area - the city center and on the embankment there is a sufficient number of restaurants for every taste. A beer mug will cost about EUR 2.
The city has enough fast food. Restaurants of famous brands can be found on Krepeliner Strasse. Every major shopping center, railway station and other public places can always find a snack bar where you can taste sandwiches, vegetables and meat, as well as drink tea, coffee, juice or beer.
Entertainment, excursions and attractions in Rostock
The Kröpeliner Straße pedestrian street starts from Kröpeliner Gate and ends at the exit to the New Market Square. There are many shops, attractions, restaurants. In the middle of the street is the University Square. The new market square (Alter Markt) is famous for the Town Hall building, here is the post office building and tourist information office. In addition, the market often places markets and collapses where you can buy vegetables and fruits, souvenirs and clothes.
