Castle Johannesburg: where is and how to get there?

Schloss Johannisburg, which is the seventh most beautiful place among all the castles of Bavaria, is in the town of Aschaffenburg. It towers over the River Main and is a majestic structure of the Renaissance times. There are several museums and exhibitions for tourists, including a collection of models of various buildings made of cork. In front of the castle is a magnificent garden.

To see all this, tourists need to get to Aschaffenburg. This can be done by car (route A26) or by train. The train station arrives from different cities in Germany: from Munich (about 3 hours on the way), Nuremberg (1.5 hours), Würzburg (40 minutes), etc. From there to the castle (its address Schloßplatz 4) 20, however, you can take bus number 1, 4, 6, 8.

Johannesburg is open from 9:00 to 18:00 from April to September, the rest of the year is 10: 00-16: 00, Mondays - the weekend. A ticket to the castle costs 5.5 EUR, a discount up to 4.50 for students and elderly people (from 65 years old), children under 18 years old are free. You can buy a combined ticket for visiting the castle and Pompejanum villas for 9 and 7 EUR at a discount.
