No doubt, the parliament building in any country should look very presentable and solemn - this is exactly the Berlin Reichstag, which, moreover, has its own exaggerated heroic history.

The construction of the building lasted for ten years, which was preceded by a ten-year phase of project approval. As a result, in 1894 a plush building in the spirit of a new Renaissance was added to the Republic Square, supplemented by Baroque elements. He was also named as the then legislative body of the newly-formed German state - the Reichstag. The main decoration of the Reichstag was a glass dome unusual for that time, which the world had never seen before.

In 1916 an inscription appeared on the facade of the "German people", whose ardent opponent was William II, who was also against the construction of the Reichstag, and the parliament in general, considering it disastrous for absolutism. Two years later, it was from the front balcony of the government building that Germany was proclaimed a republic.

In 1933 the Reichstag building was badly damaged during the fire, the reasons of which are not established. Although, according to one version, he was staged by Hitler and accused the representatives of the Communist Party of this. As a result of this adventure, the Nazis managed to obtain extraordinary powers, and the Reichstag for Hitler became a symbol of his power. But since then the building was empty, and the Nazi government moved to the opera house Krolloper.

During the Second World War, the Reichstag was almost destroyed, the Red Army made it a symbol of its victory by raising its banner above it and leaving on its walls memorable inscriptions (some of which can be seen today.)

The complete restoration and reconstruction of the building began only in 1961 and lasted until 1964, the project was directed by Paul Baumgarten. After that, several meetings at the governmental level and a few cultural events were held here. In its direct designation, the Reichstag began to be used only after the reunification of West and East Germany in the autumn of 1990.

Excursion around the Reichstag

After another nine years, the legendary glass dome . was reconstructed according to the project of the talented English architect . Today it is located a huge observation deck that accepts tourists every day from eight in the morning until midnight . You can go there only after passing a strict examination and with the presence of identity documents, but completely free of charge, There is also a chic Käfer restaurant next to the dome, from which you can enjoy the equally stunning view . The tables here must also be reserved in advance .

It's easy to get to the Reichstag, the main thing is to have everything Ret advance. To begin with, you should visit the official website of the Reichstag and register there for an excursion. An invitation is sent to the post office, with which they let in. Everything is extremely simple. Inside us, a guide (in our case, an English-speaking one) met and, gathering us all in a heap, led the building. First, we were told about the premises where the meetings and voting sessions are held (the one that is constantly shown on TV). The next stop was the walls ... Read the whole review

Almost all excursions around Berlin begin with the Reichstag, and ours was no exception. A little unlucky with the weather, because we were in Germany for the New Year. It was very warm, but the rain was not stopping. But a beautiful green grass decorated the whole area in front of the Reichstag, which is called the Republic Square. The building itself is very beautiful from the point of view of architecture, one can not even believe that at the end of the war it was almost completely destroyed. Inside there is a preserved wall with inscriptions of Soviet soldiers ... Read the whole review

It seems to me that one can not visit Berlin without seeing the Reichstag. It is located in the heart of Berlin, not far from the famous Brandenburg Gate. You can take the metro to Bundestag station, or, in fact, to the Brandenburger Tor station.
First of all, it strikes the building itself with its beautiful "smoky" stucco molding, carved columns, and immediately the historical moments connected with this building come to mind. On the green vast lawn near the Reichstag, or rather at Platz-der-Republik, many tourists ... Read full review

In Berlin, I was in August 2012. The mandatory point of the program in all the guidebooks on Berlin is the visit to the Reichstag. The entrance to the Reichstag is free. Previously, we had to defend a long queue to get inside. Now the Reichstag visit is possible only after preliminary registration on the Internet. However, the turn did not become much less, yes, it decreased, but not much. It is very rare to conduct excursions in Russian, it is much easier to get on a tour of the Reichstag ... In November 2012 I went with my friend to a trip to the countries of Europe, which she saved for 4 months. The tour program included visits to Poland, Germany, Holland, Belgium and France, as well as Disneyland. Our trip was exciting, as in a short time we saw a huge number of unique attractions. I want to talk about visiting the famous building of Berlin - the Reichstag. Its history begins soy history from about the beginning of the 19th century, and was originally held here ... If you stroll to the left of the Bradenburg Gate, you can easily find the Reichstag building decorated with a modern transparent dome. The building itself looks quite impressive, in the memory immediately there are historical pictures) Near the Reichstag, we were at 5-6 in the morning in July. Honestly, before 9 am we were able to get around almost all the sights of the city center and could see it practically without people, in the wonderful light of the rising sun. The climb to the dome is free, only you first need to reserve ... Read the whole review
