Frankfurt Airport is located 30 km north-east of Mainz. This is a major railway junction, where trains follow throughout Germany. There are also direct trains to Idar-Oberstein (Idar-Oberstein). The journey takes 1 hour and 15 minutes, the ticket costs 12, 50 EUR per person.
At the same time Frankfurt-Hahn Airport does not have a direct connection to the railway. Often it is much more convenient not to go to Mainz and then take the train, and take the bus at the airport and get to Idar-Oberstein right away. This is all the more convenient because many recommend that if you take a long train ride, get here (if Idar-Oberstein is on the way), and from here continue on the train to your destination.
More information about the railway can be found on the railway website. Just in case, we also attach bus schedule.
