If immediately in the airport after the loss of baggage a written statement was drawn up - it remains only to wait when it is found, and will be delivered (for example, to the hotel where you stayed). The act of loss of luggage is made in two copies. On the copy of the airline you specify all your contact details (including on vacation), on your copy you must specify the phone number of the baggage search service or the telephone number of the airline representative, for which it is better to remind yourself and your luggage.

Some airlines provide travelers in this situation with a "travel package": toothpaste and toothbrush, soap, deodorant, t-shirt. As a rule, these are the largest international carriers, Russian airlines usually do not do that.

Baggage can be found within 24 hours. If within 5 days it is not returned, you need to contact the air carrier and make a list of things that are in the suitcase. This list is entered in the search parameters, after which, according to the airline, luggage is in 90% of cases.

The maximum period of search for luggage is 21 days. If it is still not found, it is considered lost or stolen, and the airline is obliged to pay the damage. According to the Warsaw Convention on Air Transportation and Article 119 of the Russian Federation Air Code, for lost baggage the airline is obliged to pay compensation at the rate of 600 rubles per kilogram. Even if you have checks for those things that lie in the suitcase, the additional compensation will not be more than 50% of the cost.
