The paragraph of history

"Precursor" of the city of Třebíč was a Benedictine monastery, founded here in 1101 by princes Oldřich Brnensky and Litold Znojemski. Later, in the 13th century, around the monastery appears the city of Třebíč and already in the 14th century it receives the rights of the royal city. Třebíč's entertainment, excursions and attractions

Třebíč is located in one of the most beautiful regions Czech Republic - in Western Moravia, on the Jihlava River. One of the main attractions of the city is the majestic basilica of St. Procopius, built in Romanesque-Gothic style. Now the basilica is located on the castle grounds, and used to be the main temple of the Benedictine monastery.

In 1468, during the already mentioned siege of the city by the troops of Matvey Korvin, the basilica was badly damaged, and the brothers left the monastery. And after this for two hundred years, prayers and psalms were not distributed here, and the surviving space was used as a barn and stables

In the 17th century the basilica was again used for religious purposes and consecrated in honor of St. Prokop. Its interior represents the brightest example of the highly artistic stone work of the Middle Ages. In the castle today has a city museum.
