Lednice Castle is located in the homonymous tiny village, 50 km from the city of Brno .It is interesting in many ways, even the location of the castle is unique .First, it is here that the borders of three countries - the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria - are located .Secondly, the castle Lednice is part of a huge park complex, which also includes the castle Valtice .Wherever you look, there are beautiful parks and squares all around, the total area of which is almost 200 square kilometers .Lednice has a rich history - for the first time it is mentioned in documents dating from 1222 .However, then the castle had a different name - "Aisgrub" - that in German means "ice pit" .The modern name - Lednice - fortress was received only in the 15th century .The fact is that next to the very cold river Dyaya, and the "glacier" in translation from Czech means "ice river" .
Since the 14th century, the castle belonged to the Liechtenstein family. This famous family ruled Lednice until 1945, when the castle was nationalized and handed over to the state. The fortress changed its appearance more than once, each owner tried to bring something of his own. The architect from Vienna, Jiří Wingelmüller, gave the castle a modern look. It was he who made a lime ceiling in one of the rooms, invented beautiful turrets on the facade, numerous arches and columns.

Lednice is the largest castle complex in Europe .To inspect all the sights will take a whole day, or even more .Directly in the castle Lednice tourists will see hunting trophies, stuffed birds and animals, an art gallery, will be able to visit the puppet museum .Many travelers will be surprised to see a luxurious bathroom in which the bath itself is made of a single piece of pink marble, and the toilet is made in the form of a fish .In one of the halls you should pay attention to wallpaper from rice papyrus .In the left wing of the castle there is a wine shop where local drinks are sold .Wine cellars often arrange tastings .
In the castle complex you can visit the Museum of Agriculture, where a unique thing is stored - the head of a mammoth. Be sure to look at the artificial ruins of Yanograd, where often pass lovers couples. By the way, in the parks you can ride horses or bicycles, and along the river Dyje - on the river tram.
In good weather, Austria can be seen from the observation deck of the minaret. Palm greenhouse is of particular interest - here are collected many tropical plants. By the way, in the greenhouse date and banana palms grow, which even yield.

A full guided tour with a guide in Russian costs 360 kroons. Preferential - 260, family (two adults and up to three children) - 980 kroons. You can separately see the main halls for 200 CZK or private apartments also for 200 CZK. There are separate routes for the grotto, the greenhouse, the minaret, the temple of Apollo and children's rooms. In the Czech language the total route costs 260 kroons.
