Detenice Castle is located in the homonymous village in the Czech Paradise region . The first fortress on this site appeared in the 11th century . If you believe the legend, the village appeared thanks to the Czech prince Ulrich . During the hunt, he found abandoned children in the forest and took them with him, and in memory of this event ordered the founding of the village . "Detenice" in Czech means "children" . After two centuries on the place of the fortress there was a castle . In time the castle was replaced by many masters, each of which is old To improve it, adding new elements to please the fashion . In 1927 the castle was bought by engineer Rzhegak and engaged in its restoration . A little later this owner opened Detenice for visitors . After the Second World War the castle was nationalized and it became a school of gardening for girls, and later completely empty . More recently, Detenice Castle was purchased by the Ondrachkovs' spouses, completely reconstructed and reopened for visits .
The interior of the castle is of great interest. Here, tourists can see the exposition of paintings, books, a rich collection of weapons, hunting trophies, household items, which were used by many owners of Detenice. In the courtyard of the castle is a beautiful park, in which there are many sculptures in the style of classicism. It is worth paying attention to the trees in this park: many of them are more than 400 years old. Also you can visit the brewery museum
In the restaurant of the castle of Detenice visitors are entertained by actors dressed in medieval outfits. Lovely waitresses in rags can smile widely and invitingly look at you, and a minute later they will stick a knife into your breadbox. They eat here only with their hands, and beer and wine are drunk from heavy cups. The decor of the restaurant completely corresponds to the medieval style - skulls and animal skins hang on the walls, witches sit in cages, and there are instruments of torture nearby.
The waiters are closely watching the visitors, shouting at those who eat badly and drink little. If you contradict them, you will get a slap with a fly swatter.
