A bit of history

Unlike many other noteworthy Czech cities, Ceska Lipa appeared on the map of the country rather late. The first written certificate of this settlement dates back to the middle of the 13th century, and there is every reason to believe that the localities were not inhabited before. Local nobles erected here the castle Lipa, which became an outpost on the trading routes of Bohemia. The castle was built near the village of the same name, which in 1381 received the status of the city.
