2 Kolovratov family collection is exhibited in the National Gallery in the Czech Republic

A rich collection of an old Czech noble family is on display at the National Museum in Prague. Kolovratov family collection is considered the richest aristocratic meeting in the country.

The nobility lent the best of their paintings to the National Gallery in 1796 in a fit of patriotic feelings. There they hung for about a hundred years, after which the works were decorated with a castle in Rikhnov. In 1948 the paintings were nationalized, and in 1992 they were returned to the heirs of the Kolovratov family.

Now the descendants of the noble family returned to the tradition of cooperation with the National Gallery, resulting in an exhibition of paintings that takes place in the gallery of the palace of the Schwarzenbergs.
