St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna (German Stephansdom, in the common parlance of Steffl) is a Catholic cathedral, the national symbol of Austria and the symbol of the city of Vienna. This grandiose Gothic cathedral on the central square of Vienna, literally "stuffed" with wonderful relics: crucifixes, church utensils and works of art of world level. In addition, here you can go down to the catacombs, where the remains of Austrian emperors are buried, and climb to one of the two towers.
St. Stephen's Cathedral
In the catacombs lie the prince and builder of the cathedral Rudolph IV (died in 1365), Friedrich III, Eugene of Savoy, 72 members of the Habsburg dynasty, as well as the abbots of the cathedral.

Last spring I visited the Austrian capital. On the first day after our arrival, we went on a long tour of the center of Vienna with the tour group. Outwitted a lot of attractions, but the most amazing and elated was the Cathedral of St. Stefan. It is located at the intersection of key metro lines, all roads lead exactly here. This is the main Catholic cathedral of the city. Before me appeared a massive, fundamental building with many stone statues. Four stone figures depicted ... Read full review

In Austria I was greatly impressed by the Catholic Cathedral of St. Stephen! It is located in Vienna, and if you travel from a travel company and certainly with a guide, then be sure to visit this landmark. In general, excursions for groups are arranged, the history of the creation of the cathedral is told in detail, etc. My beloved and I could not go inside the cathedral because of the limited amount of time, although I very much regret it. Outside, the cathedral impresses with its architecture! It is executed ... Read the whole review

St. Stephen's Cathedral was the last attraction we visited during our tour of Vienna. It ended just near him, and then there was free time. First we tried to examine it from the outside, probably this is the most beautiful Gothic cathedral that I saw, but not the largest one. Part of the temple was restored, it was so skilfully disguised that you will not notice at once. The only thing that spoiled the impression is that the cathedral is clamped with buildings from all sides and entirely ... Read the whole review

The magnificent Cathedral in Vienna January 31, 2014

In my opinion St. Stephen's Cathedral is an example of Gothic architecture! The cathedral is in the historical center of the city and in principle all the roads go to it! So for example from the Vienna opera walk on a straight line to the cathedral no more than 7 minutes. The nearest bus stop is 10 minutes walk away. Outside, the cathedral impresses with its decoration and of course the size! The facade of the building can be seen for a very long time. We celebrated in New year in Vienna and just on the square in front of the cathedral was located the main stage on which ... Read the whole review

I traveled bus tours around Europe in autumn, and Vienna was one of the destinations. St. Stephen's Cathedral was also in our program. Outside, he certainly is very impressive, especially his tower. In general, I am a fan of Gothic architecture and St. Stephen's Cathedral was for me the main place in Vienna. At the entrance to the interior, the spirit intercepts, the entrance to us is free. Everything is so great and beautiful that the speech is lost. You understand that in those days, such churches were built that would ... Read the whole review

St. Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom) - a beautiful whopper in the center of the capital of Austria September 30, 2013

In Vienna, I was together with a guide and tour group, it was a one-day trip. Of course, time was sorely lacking in everything, and St. Stephen's Cathedral was not planned to enter, only a survey from the outside. And then a sudden downpour began to help, for which I am very grateful. I read that the entrance fee was paid, but we did not pay anything. Perhaps, because of the fact that the ministry was being held. Since I, like forty, love everything brilliant, I would not have had a day to consider all the items of decoration ...
