The building constructed in 1869 was to serve exclusively as a reliable supplier of spiritual food to the royal court of Austria. Solemnly opened in the 19th century "Don Juan", the Vienna Opera became a favorite place of the capital's aristocracy and other close personalities. Life seemed easy and pleasant, and the annual balls that were given in this building were the blue dream of all the romantic girls of the Turgenev era.

Despite the fact that this building is still in its place, our contemporaries will never know what the "original" of the Viennese opera was. The bloody sinusoid of the Second World War passed through the Austrian capital at first hard years of occupation, and "in the wake of", in 1945, the cultural center and the first pride of the Austrians were finally wiped off the face of the earth during carpet bombing.

Ball at the Vienna Opera

In 1955, the Opera invited to solo artists of Russian origin, again began to give balls, the building was restored to the old blueprints, and the hungry to artistic delights of the non-poor citizens again in equal numbers reached for Vienna. So the end of this story can rightly be called happy.

Performances

To be eligible to say: "I was at the Vienna Opera", it's enough to go to the performance of category B - everyday products with acceptable ticket prices. For gourmets, intellectuals and others - category A: fresh performances with world stars (ticket prices are already higher by an order of magnitude). For the premieres and special events, the prices go completely off scale.

was here in April 2014
To visit Vienna and not to visit opera is equal to a crime. My husband and I were in the Austrian capital in April, it was our first independent trip without tour operators and agencies. Everything was done through the website. In general, in addition to attractions, we were very impressed by Tosca's opera. Even if we listened to her standing, and we did not know the language, but the music was fine, and even my husband, far from the classics, appreciated this action) So the opera is a must for the Viennese program !!!

The most prestigious opera house in Europe June 10, 2014

Valentina
was here in December 2012
Vienna was and remains the center of classical music in Europe, and the Viennese opera house is the most famous and prestigious venue for opera performances, ballets, symphony concerts and social balls. Tickets for these events are quite expensive and they need to be booked in advance, but the spectacle is worth it, but it all depends on the level of performance and celebrity performers. By the way, there are several rooms and prices in the opera house, respectively, and there is also a budget option - standing places costing 2-4 euros, ... Read the whole review
