Is it possible to register a marriage in Germany?

Answer information department of the "Tourism Subtlety"
In Germany, Russian citizens can hold a symbolic wedding ceremony, and (in theory) it is possible to officially marry. For legal registration it will be necessary to collect a package of documents and apply to the registry office. All papers will need to be translated into German and legalized (apostille). The set of necessary documents must be recognized in the city hall, where the marriage is planned - it can be different in different lands.

Upon the arrival of the newlyweds to their homeland, they will have to legalize the marriage. Since Germany is a country party to the Hague Convention, this will require the apostille to be stamped on the marriage certificate.

Why then is Germany mainly holding symbolic ceremonies, and the legal procedure is only talked about as theoretically possible? Because the preparation of documents for the official marriage of two foreigners in this country is a tense, complicated, often expensive (extracts, paper transfers only on the spot, certificates, notarial certification, etc.) and quite a long time. In the Czech Republic, Denmark and other countries, it is much easier to do this.
